Early adopterearly adoptersare companies that play a key role in the pre-commercialization and commercialization of innovations introduced by young innovative companies with high growth potential. Finding early adopters is an arduous task for young innovative companies with high growth potential, requiring time, contacts, knowledge and outstanding communication skills. This is all the more true when it comes to deep technologies,deep technologies, which transform the environments in which they are adopted. Innovative young companies with high growth potential in this field are experiencing the strongest growth. Bringing these innovative technologies into the workplace is a real challenge.

That's why the Ministry intends to support collaboration between companies and innovative start-ups with high growth potential, by giving them the resources they need to carry out innovation co-development projects (as well as showcasing) that meet the needs of the first-time adopter.

The aim of the Primo-adoptants call for projects is to encourage Quebec companies to innovate through the early use of technologies created by young innovative companies with high growth potential. It's aimed at startups wishing to undertake innovation and research projects with established companies, potentially their first buyers.

  • Maximum grant: $75,000 per project, up to 60% of eligible expenses;
  • Contribution from first-time adopters: minimum of 20% of eligible project expenses from the adopting community;
  • Maximum cumulative government assistance of 60%. Can reach 75% if the primary adopter is a private organization;
  • Financial assistance cannot be combined with financial assistance from another project funding program of the Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et de l'Énergie.
