La recherche de primo-adoptants est ardue pour les jeunes entreprise innovantes à fort potentiel de croissance puisqu’elle exige du temps, des contacts, des connaissances ainsi que des habiletés communicationnelles hors pair. Cela est d’autant plus vrai lorsqu’il est question de hautes technologies (deep technologies, which transform the environments in which they are adopted. Innovative young companies with high growth potential in this field are experiencing the strongest growth. Bringing these innovative technologies into the workplace is a real challenge.
That's why the Ministry intends to support collaboration between companies and innovative start-ups with high growth potential, by giving them the resources they need to carry out innovation co-development projects (as well as showcasing) that meet the needs of the first-time adopter.
The aim of the Primo-adoptants call for projects is to encourage Quebec companies to innovate through the early use of technologies created by young innovative companies with high growth potential. It's aimed at startups wishing to undertake innovation and research projects with established companies, potentially their first buyers.
- Maximum grant: $75,000 per project, up to 60% of eligible expenses;
- Contribution from first-time adopters: minimum of 20% of eligible project expenses from the adopting community;
- Maximum cumulative government assistance of 60%. Can reach 75% if the primary adopter is a private organization;
- Financial assistance cannot be combined with financial assistance from another project funding program of the Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et de l'Énergie.

- PROMOTE the development of and access to expertise in research and innovation, in support of businesses and stakeholders.
- FIND effective, forward-looking solutions to societal problems requiring technology and knowledge.
- CONTRIBUTE to the implementation of sustainable development principles among innovation system players and their partners.
To be eligible, the project must be submitted to an RSRI operating in the main sector of activity concerned. The project must also be supported by a niche or cluster of excellence that is a member of the ACCORD initiative In addition, all projects must meet the following criteria:
- Be carried out in Quebec.
- Meet a specific need of companies in niche and cluster sectors.
- Be structuring and aimed at resolving strategic issues for Quebec.
- Have the required level of innovation, i.e. the product or process must offer a decisive advantage over existing solutions on the market and in the sector, nationally or internationally.
- The project must be completed no later than March 31, 2027
- The project must be carried out in partnership with a public research center and a minimum of three companies.
